My Visit

  • Please bring your photo ID and insurance card.
  • We ask that you bring a copy of your referral if your insurance requires it; if you are not sure, ask a member of our team and they will check with your insurance company.
  • If you wear contact lenses, please bring the lens information and the lens prescription.

The length of your appointment time may vary, depending on possibility of testing that may need to be done for your eye health.  From the time of your scheduled appointment until the time you check out, it may take from 1-2 hours, depending on testing, emergency work-ins, etc.

Every person is different.  Most patients at their very first appointment will be dilated, and during most yearly exams.  You may also be dilated if your physician determines that additional testing is needed during your visit.

Every patient is different; your eyes will likely be more sensitive to light than you are used to.  You may drive after being dilated if you feel comfortable.  If not, sit with us for a while until you are ready!

Every insurance plan has different coverage and we will always bill your insurance for testing and/or procedures performed in the office. There are a few procedures that some insurances may not cover, and we explain this to each new patient:

  • Refraction: This is the procedure that helps us determine your vision needs.  The results from the refraction are what calculate your prescription for glasses or contacts.
  • Contact Lens Fitting

Our M.D.s are board certified physicians of Ophthalmology. Our M.D.s not only specialize in eye health, diseases and treatment, but they are trained surgeons and perform surgeries for our patients at two surgery centers in Tucson:

  • Camp Lowell Surgery Center
  • Carondelet Foothills Surgery Center

Our O.D.s are doctors of Optometry. Our O.D.s specialize in primary vision care ranging from testing to treatment and management of vision changes. *Your insurance may dictate that you are required to be seen by an O.D. prior to scheduling an appointment with an M.D.
